Best Day Drinking Selections

Posted by Barterhouse on July 7, 2021

The time is ripe for day drinking. And let’s face it: after the year you’ve had, it’s time for something beyond the ordinary. When summer’s sun beats down and the humidity rises, you need something crisp, fresh, light, and refreshing. And where else to look for these traits than in the best wine bottles from Italy and France? Barterhouse Imports make day drinking anything but ordinary.

Between Hamptons dartys and rooftop fun, here’s what you should keep nearby during these hot boozy days.

Jules Gascogne Sauvignon Blanc 2019

With the oceanic climate of warm days and particularly cool nights, you will find the concentration of citrus flavors here, especially grapefruit and lemon. This is added to a floral nose of jasmine and broom as well to create a sauvignon blanc that will cool you down and wish that summer days would last forever. Pair this crisp beauty with halibut or shellfish and you will have the full taste of summer with a citrus flair.

Les Buy Sancerre

Let the flavors of stone fruit and citrus play with your palate as you sip this French classic. A wine with history, this particular Sancerre takes its name from the former village of Bué, which has been home to the producer’s family for generations. This Upper Loire white pairs wonderfully with shellfish or spicy foods, making it a fantastic choice for a summer night dinner. Meanwhile, The bright acidity will leave you feeling refreshed between each bite. Gather the crew together for an evening of wine and seafood arrabbiata.

Le Grand Cros L’Esprit de Provence Rosé 2018

From the same vineyard comes a bottle from 2018. After an extremely dry 2017, 2018 was anything but. It was a struggle to keep the extreme wetness and mildew out of the vineyards. But because Julian Faulkner and his team did, this rosé is filled with yellow peaches, yellow flowers, and passion fruit which comes together in this complex wine with a lovely texture. The slightly sweet finish goes well with salads, fish, and white meat. Julian Faulkner shows us all how a properly made vintage rosé is sexy and can last all day like the best white wines. This rosé is the perfect bottle to take to a barbecue or the beach and sip all day.

Jules Côtes de Provence Rosé, 2019

The Jules Rosé label knows that patience is a virtue. Although these grapes took a long time to ripen after the warm, dry summer, the sweet taste of litchi, white peaches, and pomelo will pair perfectly with a sun-kissed day. This is such a light and refreshing rosé and will pair perfectly with a sushi or crab roll lunch. This bottle calls for a bit of sophistication, with its persistent fruity expression.

No matter which Barterhouse wine you choose, you know you will be getting hand-crafted and hand-selected wine made from the best grapes available. These wines are perfect for warm temperatures, high humidity, and sunshine as far as the eye can see. Galileo said, “Wine is sunlight held together by water.” And if you want to enjoy a sun-kissed day by the water or in the locale of your choice, there is no better drink than a bottle of Barterhouse wine!
