Massi di Mandorlaia

Massi Di Mandorlaia Morellino Di Scansano (2011)

Made from 85% Sangiovese blended with Alicante, Cabernet, and Merlot, this opens with aromas of red and blackberries with a waft of Mediterranean scrub.
HARVEST NOTE

Morellino di Scansano is a dry red wine from the coastal hills of southern Tuscany in Italy. One of the region’s lesser-known DOCG wines, it sits, somewhat underappreciated, in the shadow of its more famous counterparts from Chianti, Montalcino, and Montepulciano.

The wine is produced in the rolling hills around the medieval village of Scansano.

TASTING NOTE

The palate delivers ripe, fleshy black cherry and plum with notes of spice and a hint of oak. Reflecting the vintage, it’s shy on fresh acidity and rather tannic.
